A Day in Istanbul

On the way home from Bangladesh, we had a very long stop over in Istanbul. They are using these long layovers to generate more tourism. Istanbul is a very cool city that I’d love to spend a few more days in. We only had maybe 6 hours of daytime, so we already knew that we’d just do a quick walk tour on our own and try to stop into at least one place. It ended up being so windy, cold, drizzly and a little snowy, so our quick walking tour was slightly miserable. 🙂

We had turkish coffee and snacks at the cutest little coffee shop. Found a place to eat really great food. Saw some beautiful, old buildings, learned a little history and toured inside one of the oldest mosques. Then we had a turkish bath massage. None of us had a clue what we were getting ourselves into… it was a crazy cool experience that I’d totally do again. I think the majority of our group of 8 would say it was unique and they’d do it again 🙂 Just ask me if you are thinking of getting one and I’ll give you my recommendation!

Since the weather was terrible and we didn’t have alot of time, I just got a few photos. I’ll share the ones I have and maybe a few from others on our trip. All in all I’m glad we had the stopover, I loved the city (or what I saw of it), I’d love to go back and spend more time in nicer weather, and I’d love another turkish bath! 🙂
